St. Michael’s Hockey Duo Performing On and Off Ice (AUDIO)

The St. Michael’s College men’s hockey team had a banner weekend this weekend, topping No. 12 Babson and tying No. 8 UMass-Boston. The Purple Knights have a very unique scheduling dynamic because St. Michael’s is a member of Division II but they play a mostly Division III schedule because there are only six teams in Division II hockey.

We were joined today by senior captains Danny Divis and Justin McKenzie, who talked about the weekend on the ice, the dynamics of being a Division II team playing against Division III teams, but we also talked about the work the duo is doing off the ice. The tandem founded an organization “Hope Happens Here” which promotes Mental Health awareness.

St. Michael’s will have a Mental Health Awareness game on Jan. 28 and has already executed a number of events related to this cause.
