The University of Vermont men’s basketball team got 33 points from redshirt sophomore Ernie Duncan en route to a 87-73 win over Hofstra at the Gulf Coast Showcase in Florida on Tuesday night.
The win advances the Catamounts to the final of the tournament, to be played Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. Pre-game coverage begins at 7:00 on 101.3 ESPN and 1013Espn.com.
The win moves John Becker’s squad to 5-1 on the season, the first team they’ve achieved that feat since 2011, the last time they made the NCAA Tournament as well.
UVM also got 16 points from transfer Payton Henson, 10 points from Kurt Steidl and eight points from Trae Bell-Haynes. Henson led the way with eight rebounds well Bell-Haynes and Duncan each had three rebounds.
The Catamounts will take on the winner of South Dakota and Houston in the tournament final.
