The New England Patriots tried to trade TE Rob Gronkowski to the Lions before the 2018 season. Instead, the Gronk wouldn’t let them, stayed and helped New England win the Super Bowl.
With Gronk being traded today to the Bucs, Adam Schefter of ESPN has the details on what the 2018 trade would have looked like:
2018 Rob Gronkowski trade:
Lions receive Gronkowski and a second-round pick (No. 43.)
Patriots receive a first-round pick (No. 20) and a second-round pic (No. 51)2020 Gronkowski trade:
Buccaneers receive Gronkowski and a seventh-round pick.
Patriots receive a fourth-round pick.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) April 21, 2020
That’s certainly a nice return, but the Pats did win the Super Bowl so it seems to have worked out OK.
