More Names Come Out in the UVM Hockey Coaching Search

The University of Men’s hockey team reportedly is still working through its process of hiring a new men’s hockey coach. We had heard about five names as of last week being in the mix (Roger Grillo, Eric Lang,  Ron Rolston, Ben Barr and Jerry Keefe), but now we’ve heard that there’s two more names in the mix.

Brown played in the NHL for several years and in the Olympics and served as an assistant coach at BC from 2004-2018, so he knows the collegiate game.

Woodcroft currently is in hockey operations for the Winnipeg Jets.

Here’s what his Jets bio says:

“Todd Woodcroft enters his fourth season with the Winnipeg Jets in his role as Assistant Coach.

Woodcroft has coaching experience in both the NHL and international hockey. He was a Video Coach with the Minnesota Wild from 2000-05 and with the Washington Capitals for the 2005-06 season. He was a Video Coach with Canada at the 2004 IIHF World Championship and helped the team to a gold medal win. Woodcroft has been an Assistant Coach with Belarus at three world championships in 2006, 2014 and 2016. He was an Assistant Coach with Switzerland at the 2015 world championship and will help Team Sweden at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey as a Special Assignment Coach.

Woodcroft, whose brother Jay is an Assistant coach with the Edmonton Oilers, joins the Jets’ organization after spending the last three seasons with the Calgary Flames as the team’s Scouting Director and Professional Scout.”

We’ll have more on ‘The Huddle’ today from 3-6 PM.
