The details are hazy at the moment, but a report by Gary Tanguay of NBC Sports Boston indicates that Patriots head coach Bill Belichick inquired about the Giants and Redskins job after Jimmy Garoppolo was traded (2017). That would have been while both Ben McAdoo and Jay Gruden were running those teams, respectively.

But Mike Lombardi, former Patriots staffer and now media personality, says that wasn’t the case.
