‘Cats Headed Back to Championship!

For the third straight year, the University of Vermont men’s basketball team, is headed back to the America East Championship game. The Catamounts topped Stony Brook on Tuesday by a score of 70-51 at Patrick Gymnasium.

UVM started slow as the game was a defensive slugfest in the first half, but the ‘Cats pulled away in the second half as has been customary over the last month.

The ‘Cats got a game-high 19 points from senior Drew Urquhart in the win while also getting 13 from Payton Henson and 12 from Cam Ward. It was another gutsy performance from the ‘Cats, who had people step up even as America East Player of the Year Trae Bell-Haynes (6 points) and star sophomore Anthony Lamb (4 points) struggled to score on the offensive side of things.

With the win, the ‘Cats are now 27-6 and a combined 17-1 in the America East. UVM will meet UMBC in the America East final on Saturday morning at 11 AM.

You can listen to the pre-game coverage starting at 10:30 on 101.3 ESPN. Also, Sports Saturday will be broadcasting LIVE from Patrick Gym from 8:30-10:30.
