UVM Hockey Rival Hires New Head Coach

The Dartmouth University men’s hockey program has hired its new head coach in the form of Reid Cashman.

Cashman spent the last two years as an assistant coach for the Washington Capitals of the NHL.

A former defenseman, Cashman is a 2007 graduate of Quinnipiac, where he was an All-American, a First-Team All-ECAC Hockey selection and a Hobey Baker Top-10 Finalist (2005). Following his professional playing career, he returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach, helping the Bobcats reach two Frozen Fours in 2013 and 2016.

UVM plays Dartmouth every year. The two teams tied last year at 2-2 and UVM won two years ago, 5-3.

If the two teams meet this year, they will both have new head coaches as the Catamounts hired Todd Woodcroft, also formerly of the NHL, for their head coaching opening.

Dartmouth went 13-14-4 last year.
