Reports surfaced over the weekend that former Panthers QB Cam Newton talked with the Patriots at the beginning of the offseason, although nothing came of it.

Newton missed most of last season with a foot injury and hasn’t latched on anywhere yet. He won the NFL MVP in the 2015 season and helped get the Panthers to the Super Bowl, where they lost to the Broncos.
Newton is now 31 years old and could wait until training camp or into the season to find his next team.
