Last week, we told you about how the NFL is considering a rule change that would allow teams an alternative to the onside kick.
Teams would be allowed to got a 4th-and-15 from their own 25-yard line instead of the traditional onside kick.
Today we get some more clarity to our questions:
Clubs received updated language on the proposed onside kick alternative that (as @AlbertBreer noted) clarifies it can only be used in regulation, not overtime, and is an untimed down. Also note the language on post-score penalties. Virtual meeting tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/NWrbrazEuz

1) So, if their are penalties after the touchdown, they can be enforced on the 4th-and-15 ball spot.
2) If the offensive team commits a penalty, they cannot back out and elect to kick off.
3) Penalties by the defense would result in either an automatic first down or movement of the ball spot.
4) The down would be untimed.
We’ll have more on ‘The Huddle’ from 3-6 PM.
