Former Red Sox popular utilityman Brock Holt signed with the Brewers this week and will make less than $4 million this year in guaranteed money.
He gets a one-year deal with a club option for 2021 that is worth $5 million.

The plate incentives could take the value of the contract to up to as much as $4 million guaranteed.
Even in the Red Sox offseason retooling, the Sox could have afforded that, but they elected to sign Jose Peraza to fill the Holt role. They’ll likely use Michael Chavis at 2B and Mitch Moreland at 1B.
