BREAKING: Patriots to Sign Nugent as K

The New England Patriots are reportedly signing longtime NFL kicker Mike Nugent to be the replacement for Stephen Gostkowski, who has been placed on injured reserve.

Nugent has spent parts of 14 seasons in the NFL, including time with the Jets, Cardinals, Bucs, Bengals, Bears, Cowboys and Raiders.

He spent the bulk of his career with the Jets and Bengals. He was a second-round draft pick back in 2005 of the Jets out of Ohio State.

For his career, he’s an 81 percent field goal kicker and a 96 percent extra-point kicker, though the bulk of the extra points were made at the previous distance of 19 yards and not the current one of 33 yards.

The Patriots play the Redskins on Sunday in Washington.
