The Boston Red Sox won the World Series and the individual accolades and recognition have started to come in over the last few weeks. And on Tuesday, Alex Cora was named the runner-up for the Manager of the Year Award, losing out to Bob Melvin of the A’s and finishing ahead of Kevin Cash of the Rays.
AC comes in 2nd in Manager of the Year voting.
To recap his 2018:
🔹 A franchise-record 108 Wins
🔹 An 11-3 Postseason
🔹 A World Series Title pic.twitter.com/ytV7SMmBT9— Red Sox (@RedSox) November 14, 2018
I’m actually surprised that Cora finished second. While what the Red Sox did was amazing, it was expected. The team had the resources and the star power to make that happen. Melvin took a 75 win team in Oakland and transformed it to a 97 win team with the lowest payroll in baseball and nearly all of his starting rotation hurt.
Mookie Betts is up next as he tries to win the AL MVP on Thursday.
