The New York Yankees lost to the Boston Red Sox in the American League Division Series this past October and one of the major reasons why the Yankees couldn’t win the World Series was because of the lack of pitching depth.
The team has been linked to the services of free agent pitcher Patrick Corbin and could be a fit for other free agent starters, but they also are close to bringing back CC Sabathia on a one-year deal.
I hear #Yankees and CC Sabathia are working thru final details of what, when finalized, would be a 1-yr, $8M deal. Hear Sabathia, in planned last season, didn't want to look around, wanted to quickly work out something with NYY.

Sabathia, 38, went 9-7 this past season with a 3.65 ERA and made 29 starts this year. He provided durability to the back end of the rotation and stayed relatively healthy for the year.
Baseball Reference projects Sabathia to have 10 wins and an ERA nearing four next year.
