On Wednesday’s edition of ‘The Huddle,’ our ESPN MLB Insider Buster Olney told us that some executives around baseball think that the Boston Red Sox are going to have to eventually move Rafael Devers to first base. It’s apparent that that fear of having to move Devers could be prohibiting the Red Sox from going after Eric Hosmer in free agency.
The question is: If the Sox are eventually going to have to move Devers to first base, why not just do it now? What’s the point of developing him to realize that he can’t play the position?
