The Patriots and wide receiver Julian Edelman have agreed to terms on a new contract. Terms of the deal are not fully disclosed but reports from the tweet below indicate that it appears that Edelman will be in Foxboro through at least 2019.

Edelman being back in New England is a big indicator in the future of the franchise. Edelman’s current deal expires after the current season ends so we were wondering if the team would start to break up and get younger after trying to win another title this year with Tom Brady.
After signing Edelman, I have to imagine even more so that this Patriots team is going to continue to try to win with Tom Brady. Edelman and Brady are notoriously close off the field and on it, so why would you continue to bring Edelman back if you were looking to move on from Brady.
Edelman is 31 years old and this deal could take him until age 34. Wide receivers don’t often succeed into their mid-30s, so I have to imagine this is another pro-Brady move. Edelman had more than 1,100 yards and three touchdowns last season.
