UVM Freshman Josh Speidel an Inspiration (AUDIO)

University of Vermont freshman basketball player Josh Speidel may be a name you haven’t heard on our coverage of Catamount hoops.

He doesn’t score the points that Ernie Duncan does. He doesn’t get the assists that Trae-Bell Haynes does and he doesn’t win the weekly awards like Anthony Lamb does.

But he’s every bit the inspiration.

Speidel suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2015 while in a car accident but UVM honored its scholarship to Speidel and he is part of the program.

An Indiana native, Speidel made the trip home with the team on Wednesday as UVM traveled to Butler. Speidel spoke to our own Sam Hyman before that game and talked about what it’s like to come home to Butler and what his motivation to get fully healthy is.
