It was a tough weekend to be a Plattsburgh hockey fan, as the men’s team lost to arch-rival Oswego State on Saturday night by a score of 4-1 and the No. 1 ranked Cardinals women’s team lost on Sunday to the Lakers by a score of 3-2.

The men’s team beat Cortland on Friday night to earn a split for the weekend while the women’s team also earned a split, beating the Lakers easily on Saturday.
For the men’s team — The Cardinals are 2-2 in SUNYAC play after splitting last weekend as well. The Lakers looked faster and generated several more scoring chances over the course of three periods.
The women’s team has won three straight national championships and is still a heavy favorite to capture a fourth. Perhaps a little adversity is a good thing for the Cardinals.
