Yesterday, in a powerful piece on the Players’ Tribune, former NBA star Ray Allen announced his retirement. Allen played parts of 18 seasons in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks, Seattle SuperSonics, Boston Celtics and Miami Heat.
Allen won two championships in his career after a stellar collegiate career at the University of Connecticut. He helped the Celtics win the title in the 2007-2008 season and helped the Heat win the championship in 2013.
He retires as the all-time leader in three-point shooting in NBA history and Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors said yesterday that Allen was the best shooter in NBA history because of his longevity in the league.
And former Celtic Rajon Rondo also weighed in on Allen’s legacy:
Rondo on whether the Celtics should retire Ray Allen's jersey: "Without a doubt."
